Cosmic Rigor⚡️
You can sign up for COSMIC RIGOR, a 4-week course on Tuesdays (zoom, recorded, beginning October 1) via Morbid Anatomy, until September 30. Affordable, weird, psychedelic. I stole the term cosmic rigor from dissident and Virgo Antonin Artaud, and it guides my research and this newsletter. In class, we’ll delve into some connections between art and astrology, and astrology as art.
We’ll begin with Dane Rudhyar’s idea of astrology as “threshold knowledge.” From there, we’ll consider some astrological undercurrents of surrealism, psychoanalysis, H.D.’s poetry and writings on Freud, Yeats and his visions, and more. Trippy and colorful slideshows per usual. This course is also precursor and preparation for the yearlong class I’m teaching beginning in January of 2025, Psycho-Cosmos. Come as you are (or don’t come at all, and sign up then get the recordings) zero preparation needed. A little vibey preview beneath here——
"Quite apart from the very subtle means of evaluation that astrology uses and its predictive abilities," said the surrealist artist Andre Breton, "I consider its capacity for stretching and exercising the mind to be second to none."
