My books are open for the astrologically wild month of JULY (a few slots left). And some ART OF ASTROLOGY 1-1 STUDIES packages left. After that, my books will close until autumn, so if you want a summer reading, now’s the time!
“A current under sea
Picked his bones in whispers. As he rose and fell
He passed the stages of his age and youth
Entering the whirlpool.” — T.S. Eliot, The Waste Land
All things in the cosmos begin and end in water, thought Thales. Water births earth and the rest of the elements, by turns peaceable and testy. Lately: water flecked with fire in the sky and I’ve been thinking of one of my favorite movies, Don’t Look Now (RIP Donald Sutherland!!) Roeg’s 1973 masterpiece wherein a couple mourns the death of their daughter and goes to Venice, city of water.
Pocked with spreading red (blood, a fated red raincoat, more…) the thriller glimmers with the surreality of grief’s dealings. The movie’s got a supercharged mood, both passionate and melancholic, like this month’s astrology. How seas pick bones as we us enter their central whirlpools. Plus: Julie Christie’s 1970s outfits of tweed and fur, a blind seer, echoes bouncing off Venetian walls, and shadows dry and wet, stoic and demented.
The rest of July is so wired: crescendoing intensity on the heels of the new moon in Cancer. Venus is moving into an opposition with Pluto, which perfects on July 12th—-love, art, and relationships eyeing tensely the underworld’s lord. Reckonings romantic and aesthetic, limit experiences, moodiness. Then, Mars and Uranus come together and the sun opposes Pluto. One planet after another shimmering through water and fire’s truth procedures: Cancer then Leo, with Pluto in the early degrees of Aquarius. Finally: a full moon in earthen Capricorn on July 21st. A trippy buildup fulfilled. For more particulars on how these transits are hitting your chart, book a session.
“Horoscopes” for all 12 signs below—-I suggest reading for your sun and rising, though many may apply. All images are from Don’t Look Now (1973).
