(((((This is the first part of a Uranus in Gemini series. Horoscopes for all signs for this major transit next week, and quite lengthy, so do SUBSCRIBE if you want those! Uranus enters Gemini TODAY (July 7, 2025). It will dip out, stationing retrograde on September 6 and re-enter Taurus on November 7th. It will then go direct on Feb 3, 2026, before finally returning to Gemini for good (until spring 2033) on April 26, 2026.
Below, my long, unedited notes on this transit.)))
FIRST, 3 UPCOMING THINGS:
1. PSYCHO-COSMOS MONTHLY WORKSHOP. The summer and early fall lineup of Psycho-Cosmos workshops is my fave. You can join at any time, and get access to all the recordings from previous months and all upcoming workshops, through December. Here's what's coming (join live or get the recordings):
JULY 27, 2025: UNDERWORLD AND UNCONSCIOUS: PLUTO + DREAMS
AUGUST 31, 2025: MOON, MOTHER, MATTER
SEPTEMBER 28, 2025: MADNESS, DREAMS, THE 12TH HOUSE

2. SATURN SESSIONS (1.5 hour deep-dive into Saturn (and Jupiter, if you want) in your natal chart and in the sky. Both planets have recently changed signs, so there is much to discuss. Afterward, I email you a bespoke document with key dates for you based on our conversation, and some recommended readings/viewings. Good for those who are stuck on a project, struggling with timing--calendrical or divine, or simply curious about these planetary counterparts. I've got 4 slots in July. Grab your spot HERE
3. JULY 26: INITIATIONS: A workshop on the cardinal signs with Danielle Beinstein and Emmalea Russo. Dani is an excellent astrologer and we're going to talk about all things CARDINAL (beginnings, initiations) as so many planets have moved into cardinal signs recently. There will also be time for your questions. Come live or get the recordings. Reserve your spot HERE
“Thinking, in the strong sense, begins with eros. To be able to think, one must first have been a friend, a lover. Without eros, thinking loses all vitality and turmoil, and becomes repetitive and reactive.” — Byung-Chul Han
“The disaster: break with the star, break with every form of totality, never denying, however, the dialectical necessity of a fulfillment; the disaster: prophecy which announces nothing but the refusal of the prophetic as simply an event to come, but which nonetheless opens, nonetheless discovers the patience of vigilant language. The disaster, touch of the powerless infinite: it does not come to pass under a sidereal sky, but here—a here in excess of all presence. Here: where, then?” — Blanchot
A banquet. Everyone’s talking and drinking. Diotima tells Socrates that love is neither mortal nor immortal, neither human nor god, but something in-between.
A spirit.
Gemini is the youth-infused spirit of words and the desirous, reaching love that powers them. Gemini is the twins, the lovers, two entities separating and merging to form a third thing—a body of desire. A space. A telephone. Mediums: angelic, demonic, and technological.
Maybe I’ve got a soft spot for those with strong Gemini in their hearts. Conversations flow smoothly for decades, even with long gaps in between. And people are always mis/taking me for a Gemini.
Gemini (along with Virgo) is Mercury’s sign. Airiest expression of the messenger god. Forever youthfulness, short trips, zig zags and effervescence, curiosity, speech and language, endless questions.
Here, we learn to speak. Testing, repeating, screaming, gossiping, making mistakes. Here, we join the world of language and so get severed from the oceanic waters of oneness, equal parts excruciating and exciting.
The twins run circles around the priest. The lover breaks Chat GPT. The hysteric questions the mentor or leader, thereby getting killed or kicked out of the club or cult.
Curiosity kills the
It is the risk, in short, of thinking and loving.
BUT WHAT IS THAT?! WHAT IS (HUMAN) THOUGHT?
Uranus in Gemini is a bit sci-fi. A language disaster. But which “discovers the patience of vigilant language.” Uranus in Gemini calls human language and thought into question.
Gemini = The Lovers tarot card. Lovers are oracles. In Gemini/The Lovers: doubles, the eroticism of thought, thinking-loving.
Loving doubles us and our beloved. In her tremendous text “The Erotic,” Lou Andreas Salome tells us that when we fall in love, we fall in love with two entities at once — the person and our image of the person. Out of this tension, pain and beauty.
Uranus is electricity. Force of change. Revolutions and Prometheus. Weird science. It is The Tower card, where all falls down, and dramatically. With lightning.
As Uranus moves through Gemini these next years—the chatty twins will get altered. Their essence, questioned, tested, and threatened. And the Gemini parts of our charts changed. Of what is that part made?
Machines appearing to be more and more human. Doubles everywhere. And relationships (therapy, love, etc.) with artificial intelligences. We spoke about this during last weekend’s Psycho-Cosmos class: how is AI, Chat GPT, changing thinking? And how is the erotic, eros, the beginning of true thinking? How is eros lost, glossed over, in technologies of affirmation?
In Lacan on Love, the psychoanalyst Bruce Fink points out that in Plato’s Greek, TA EROTIKA is a play on EROTAN, the art of asking questions. Fink writes: “By asking the right questions, we highlight the lack in the analysand, who then comes to believe that we ourselves must have the answer since we have asked the questions.”
As AI infiltrates Gemini’s invisible medium of air—human contact, questions, and conversation (therapy, divination, friendship, socializing) will perhaps get more crucial than ever.
The charged gap between question and answer marking the indescribable thing that makes us human.
The soul.
These technologies of mind answer our questions asap, populating the screen with machine learning. It is maybe a kind of death drive (a hurrying towards an end). Missing eros, which is so much strange space and deferment. Lack animates eros. The space between the lovers, the twins, the thing and the word. May we get more alive as Uranus travels through Gemini. Not more undead. A defibrillator. The lovers/twins are also found, in another form, in The Devil card. The quest for knowledge, its fruits and hazards.
Hesiod said chaos came first. Then earth. Then love. For Parmenides, eros is the oldest divine entity. I love the idea of the most foundational god being a winged child.
The youngest is the oldest. The spirit before the soul. Very Gemini. A little maddening. Language games, riddles, riffing, tricking, dirty talk, rhyme.
Plato’s Symposium begins with waiting. The lover and the thinker wait. Men sit around a table, drinking and making speeches about the nature of desirous love. Though Plato famously kicked poets out of his ideal city, Socrates is eroticism and poetry incarnate: illumination and elision. Everyone wants him. Unplaceable, he questions, inciting thinking-loving. Georges Bataille: “I approach poetry in order to miss it.” They approach Socrates in order to miss him. Annoying. Revelatory.
Eros keeps losing us. The lover is also the divine loser. The trip begins with surprise. The Lovers card.
We have to lose our minds to re-find the strange magic of language that was so easy to access in childhood: Uranus in Gemini. Uranus in Gemini might attempt to demolish the erotic dimension of language in favor of a hurrying towards an answer, an end, a solved equation.
I’ve quoted him before on here, but ages ago a Gemini friend told me to be careful who I send voice memos to because, he said, voice memos are the nudes of the mind. Nudes of the mind: another Uranus in Gemini theme—to mind who we show our minds to. Our data, too. Disaster, apocalypse: full disclosure, unveiling.
Anne Dufourmantelle: “In amorous fusion you hardly feel the other’s nudity or your own—by which I mean that these nudities form a third body that is the body of desire.”
Uranus in Gemini: linguistic playfulness challenged by mechanistic language of efficiency, utility, counting.
HAHA, Gemini spirit escapes censorship and all varieties of power’s dreariness. Uranus in Gemini: power and surveillance masquerade as liberation, progress, rebellion.
And yet, for all its destructive potentials, Uranus in Gemini may force us back to the hard questions about our souls, minds, lovers. To withstand patiently the pain of loving and thinking, knowing that it is riskier and more difficult to commune with a human than with a machine—the huh factor, the X factor, the uh soul.
Cupid’s arrow makes us move and talk differently. A pure encounter with one’s lover, twin, double is beyond freaky. No trigger warning can prep us. Always a little traumatizing. “Harmful.” The thinking parts of us, like the loving ones, are apt to take great risks. Nothing is off limits. People might get pissed.
To embrace eros, errors, misreadings. To relate to other humans is to misread and get misread, misidentified, mis-everything’d, again and again. Gemini, as early Mercury, tests, plays, and teaches that we are not what we think we are, but a collage-like sum of misreadings those have about us. There is no such thing as a wrong answer. At best, perhaps Uranus in Gemini will see an escape from the tyranny of “see me exactly as I see myself.” The mirror smashes as we meet in the weirder middle, the third body of desire, where we don’t know shit. That’s where the erotic thought hides its heart.
The Gemini twins go back and forth. Disagree. Slip up. It is fraught—the creation of a third body, the body of desire. The twins are split. No existence without splitting. We are divided because we speak. Language distances, inspires yearning. Gemini: our two hands. Perhaps the hand (Gemini) will come back in new ways. Writing longhand love notes and lists, slow and intimate, with scribbles.
Gemini: the gap between the word and world. Slips of tongue which double us, and our doubles which take us to another arena entirely. Uranus in Gemini: airy technologies of language that both help us and mess us up. Thought, like eros, no matter how HEAVY or death-centric, is never painless but it is LIGHT. Gemini says so. Laughter over self-seriousness. Gemini is social. We must keep learning to read the room and its airs: zoom, apartment, mansion, party, body.
Uranus in Gemini: making the digital, artificial intelligence, seem as human as possible. And so, we’ll continue to ask:
LIKE, WHAT IS A HUMAN? A (HUMAN) THOUGHT?
Who are our real companions? Our twins, lovers, others?
