ASTROLOGY ////// WRITING & TEACHING ////// ABOUT COSMIC EDGES
“We have to endure the discordance between imagination and fact. It is better to say ‘I am suffering’ than ‘this landscape is ugly.’” — Simone Weil, Gravity and Grace
The moving image of the sky: backward, exasperated, filled with paranoid and joyful readings and misreadings and backed by excited light. Mercury (mind, microphone, medium) retrogrades through Aries, remembering its (mis)steps. The sun, also in Aries, where its exalted and springy, gets eclipsed today and some of us’ll see its fiery ring, the path of totality. The sun (center, light, heart) blotted out, an occulted and altered plot.
Aries is the ram and crush of adolescence. How anger at turns paves the way for and totally obscures thinking and seeing. Whose shadow are we wandering around in? The planets and celestial events piled up in Aries defer to Mars, who is responsible for the care and feeding of the Ram. And Mars is currently out of its depth—swimming in Pisces—slow, waterlogged. Things aren’t caused by astrology, but events down here may correspond to what’s up there. A link. Synchronicity. The sun, constancy, eternity. The moon, the flux of city. Movies, movies.
