An archer which marks autumn’s end, pointing forward and up—-the sun’s newly in Sagittarius, a Jupiter-ruled kingdom. Mercury, quicksilver psychopomp, has been moving through Sagittarius for a few weeks already, ahead of the sun and prepping us, prepping us….

Mercury is a magician and a trickster and Jupiter is a sage, priest, teacher. Jupiter brings cosmic order and Mercury fucks with said order—bodychecking Jupiter’s grander aspirations forevermore. What then does Jupiter do to Mercury, our mindtongues? Perhaps we notice high-flown grandiloquences promising what’s loftily undeliverable. Religious fervency masquerading as radicalness. Neuro-delinquency and rattling, limits of language and whatever….

As a psychopomp responsible not for the judgement of souls, but for their transport, Mercury can, must speak to anyone—-ruler also of poets, thieves, and handiwork. In alchemical manuscripts, Mercury is force, planet, being, and material who marries the sun to the moon and separates them again, ad nauseam. Too much Mercury and we go batshit with plastic gibberish, the world become Mad-Hatter-unclasped. Too much Jupiter and we become ideologues apt to label any dissent a threat…
